Sakya Mouni by Rosine c1919

Sakya Mouni by Rosine: created by Henry Alméras and launched in 1919 (in USA by 1928).

This fragrance is named after Sakyamuni or Buddha. Siddhartha Gautama was a spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism. Guatama, also known as Saykamuni (Sage of the Sakyas), is the primary figure in Buddhism. Paul Poiret had an antique statue in his garden which inspired this fragrance.

Sakya Muni, said the Buddha lived in India there are about 2500 years old, he was the founder of Buddhism. The bottle cap is adorned with the Foo dog, one of the Chinese symbols of Buddhism, embody the protection that each home must have.

Le Fruit Defendu by Rosine: created by Henri Alméras and launched in 1913, probably in USA by 1916. The name means "The Forbidden Fruit" in French and referred to the "forbidden fruit" of Adam and Eve's demise. The perfume was a favorite of American actress Gloria Swanson.

The name means "bolt of lightning/thunderbolt" in French, also a term that the French use for the feeling of "love at first sight" as in "I was struck by the thunderbolt".

Antinea by Rosine c1922

Antinea by Rosine: launched in 1922. Antinea, ou au fond de la Mer (Antinea, or at the bottom of the sea), whose fragrance was inspired by the deep sea and the mythological island of Atlantis. Antinea was the well-known legendary figure invented by Pierre Benoit in his novel L'Atlantide.

Toute La Foret by Rosine c1911

Toute La Foret by Rosine: launched in 1911. 

The name means "The Whole Forest". Created to evoke memories of happy hours in Fontainebleau, with a scent of undergrowth (herbal and forest flowers). Raoul Dufy created a stylized print of leaves and birds used for promotional items including scented cards.

The perfume was a favorite of American actress Mary Pickford.
